Naked Lunch by William S. Burroughs

fast-paced
  • Loveable characters? No

3.5

Naked Lunch is definitely a novel where its reputation surpasses the actual content. There is no one to relate to, which is the point, I get it, but that means the horrifying scenes quickly loose their impact. A book with virtually no plot and no characters needs genuis writing. Is it there? Well, I wouldn't say so, but it does have a certain quality to it. Although the real page turners in this edition are the additions wherein Burroughs talks about his own addiction and his stance on drugs and their cure.
