This story follows a young Ghanian-British man Stephen over three summers. In the first summer Stephen is 18 and freshly out of school. We follow his journey over these three summers from London to Ghana and back to London. He invites you into his small worlds, the worlds which he occupies within this one big world.

Caleb Azumah Nelson has officially cemented himself as one of my all time favourite writers! I read Open Water in 2022 and devoured it obsessively, Small Worlds I took time with. Both are provided with beautiful breath taking lyrical writing. The way Small Worlds describes occupying our own small worlds, how dance and movement creates language is something I cannot ever describe properly with words myself. If you’re wanting to be taken away to a different place through lyrical writing - I highly suggest both books.
