The Secret of Red Gate Farm #6 by Carolyn Keene

Oof, if you needed a reminder that this series is a definite product of its time, look no further than the first line. The use of the word "oriental" happens frequently throughout this book, and at times was okay (as in an oriental perfume), and others was decidedly not. That being said, this was yet another decently fun romp with Nancy and friends, although not as much as the previous books imo. The mystery was a bit too convoluted, and while it does come together at the end, made little sense overall. I also didn't love George constantly poking fun at Bess for loving her desserts and being a bit heavier, including a line when Bess and Nancy have to carry George and she says "aren't you glad I don't eat as much as you do?" Honestly, i would've dumped her right in the dirt, and she would've deserved it.

So, all in all, this was a fun read, but there were some issues throughout that tempered my enjoyment just a bit. Not as good as the previous five I've reread!
