Chirp by Kate Messner
4.0
A powerful middle grade novel about a girl trying to regain her power and herself after being sexually assaulted.
It's also a mystery of her trying to figure out who's trying to sabotage her grandmother's cricket farm.
This was an example of a book I didn't read the summary- or forgot what it was about- so I was thrown for a loop.
It was nerve-wracking and heartbreaking. It's difficult to write a review since I don't want to treat what she went through as a minor subplot.
This just proves how good of a writer Kate Messner is to craft a story like this so well.
