alisonconner 's review for:
Mosquitoland
by David Arnold
Mary Iris Malone is 16 and has been wrenched away from her mother and moved with her father and new stepmother from Ohio to Mississippi. She runs away to be with her mother when she learns that her mother is sick. The book is the story of her journey, and the quirky characters she meets along the way. Very good and outstanding portrayal of a troubled teen, but I was troubled by the ending, where she abandons her mother, who has severe depression but isn't a basket case. Debut author, one to watch for in the future.
