When I finished this I first thought it was just about a 4 star, but that was mainly because I loved Wes. Wes was so thoughtful and sweet he just had my heart from the start. I just wasn't a big fan of Ada. Yes, she had stuff from her past that caused her to have her guard up, and that is completely understandable. However, there were times she just came across as rude for no reason and it just made her unlikeable at times and I was waiting for that big turn around. I think the problem came from the fact that you got told bits a pieces about her past and things were hinted at but because the book was so short it was never really explored enough. This meant at times it felt like Ada's past was shoehorned in as an excuse for her behaviour more than anything else. Overall, it was a quick time and I do love the Ryders, I am so excited for the two books to come as I feel like the couples there will have such good back and forth, but this wasn't as amazing as I hoped.
Minor: Emotional abuse, Mental illness, Toxic relationship, Death of parent, Abandonment
MMC has discusses he has depression but is on stable ground throughout, also mum is dead and has been for years. FMC was previously married and it is hinted that she was emotionally abused by her ex plus he was very controlling but nothing is explicit.
