DNF: 71%

This is the first book I DNF. I read 71% of the book but I couldn’t keep reading. I’m completely honest when it comes to review books. I can’t lie and I can’t push myself into reading something I’m not enjoying at all.

To be honest, I wanted to enjoy this book. When I read the synopsis I fell in love so obviously I expected to enjoy the book. The plot sounded interesting; kingdoms, wars, betrayal, love, badass main character? I was hooked. The first three or four chapters were really good and was thinking “oh yeah, this is going to be phenomenal”, but I was wrong.

I loved Lada. She was an amazing main character. You know, she was the only character I like. She was strong, badass, and had to struggle with what has to be a woman in that time. Then we have Mehmed and I didn’t liked it. He liked Lada but he didn’t showed anything and even though he’s character was an important one, he was pointless to me. Then we have Radu, Lada’s younger brother. I couldn’t hate him more. He was selfish and annoying… ugh.

As I said, the first three or four chapters were good, but then everything went down into a cliff. It started to get boring, slow, and then it was flat. It didn’t have anything good. The characters were getting more annoying and I just couldn’t stand it. Sometimes I read a chapter and when I was going to read the next chapter they were talking about a million different things that happened and I was like “when THAT happened?”. This book was slow and when I say slow, I mean REALLY SLOW. This book as suppose to have action and there was none. I must say, the writing was good, but I got lost easily.

Overall, it was boring and slow. The characters felt pointless to me and I couldn’t care less about them. I can’t say I recommend this book, because I don’t and I won’t.
