Siege and Storm by Leigh Bardugo
4.0
(More like a 3.5)
So, this took a while for me to get into. It felt like there was a major shift in the dynamics within the book, which I didn’t take to well and it took some adjusting. Alina felt completely different to me from where we left her in S&B and where we found her in S&S. The Mal and Alina fiasco got old, real fast. There was definitely a disconnect for me with the characters. Majority of the book was spent thinking or talking about schemes/plotting against the Darkling, which in the end, amounted to practically nothing and all this time was inevitably wasted.
On another note, I was super excited to meet the amazing character that is... Nikolai (are we surprised?). Can’t wait to dive into his character more, because I already love him! The last quarter of this book redeemed it for me— shit got real, QUICK. I’m interested to see how this trilogy wraps up, and finally get to the moment I’ve been waiting for, which is being able to start King of Scars.
side note— but who’s the real villain here because Alina looking a little shaky inside that head of hers
