I found this book captivating in a way I’ve missed in reading so much nonfiction as of late. To me, Sally Rooney’s talent is indisputable and finishing this read in only two page-turning instances of reading was a treat. I found her characters to be relatable, tragic, thoughtful, aggravating, and, most of all, interesting to interact with over the course of the story’s unfolding. While there are elements to this book that have been seen in others before it (and will carry into others that follow), Rooney has a brilliant way of making familiar themes feel refreshing and engaging from start to finish. I’m excited to read something of hers again soon.
