Audrey and Bill: A Romantic Biography of Audrey Hepburn and William Holden by Edward Z. Epstein

4.0

Since having read this biography awhile ago, I was reluctant to review it, but considered it anyway. Edward Z. Epstein writes with a passion for history, and includes significant and little known facts that enrich this piece of writing. However, his writing seems to get carried away and emotion takes the place of facts. This biography to one might seem to turn into a soap opera, and maybe it felt like that at the time. The first half was the most interesting, and held charm with an exceptional story of the iconic, and speculated couple, Audrey and Bill. After their relationship in the first half though, the author stretched it more than needed, and focused most on Audrey's life after, which included very little of the well known actor William Holden. An enjoyable enough piece, Audrey and Bill exposes their feelings for eachother and holds a magic that would have existed in their time.
