Y, the Last Man: The Deluxe Edition, Book 4 by Brian K. Vaughan

4.0

A lot more backstory on three characters whose histories we've only gotten bits of here and there. Drugs, war, love, national politics – all recurring themes as the series rounds the corner towards the home stretch. One angle of this series has been what happens when women gain control over the institutions that men created and/or dominated, and whether that reveals more general human characteristics than specific gender ones. Still, this series is written by a man, and I constantly wonder whether the nuances of this scenario would be better explored by a woman. Going into the final book now, so we'll see how it ends.
