The Housemaid by Freida McFadden
5.0

Entering the world of this book was akin to immersing myself in a thrilling adventure.

And wow, did it deliver! From the very first page, it gripped me, igniting a mix of anticipation and delight. Even though I anticipated some twists, the author's execution was so masterful that it left me in awe.

Initially anticipating enjoyment from this psychological thriller, I was pleasantly surprised to find myself completely absorbed. Despite encountering mixed reviews about the sequel, I couldn't resist delving into the next chapter of Millie's journey. The world she navigates, brimming with suspense and peril, captivated me from the get-go.

The story introduces us to Millie, fresh out of prison and grappling to rebuild her life. Securing a position as a maid at Winchester House seemed like a stroke of luck, but soon, Millie finds herself ensnared in a labyrinth of secrets and peril. As she maneuvers through the intricacies of her new role, she unearths unsettling truths about her employers and confronts threats that could imperil her newfound freedom.

In sum, this book unquestionably merits a high star. The problem with reading enough mysteries is that you tend to become a smartass. By halfway through the book, you could've solved the mystery with one eye closed and your hands tied behind your back!

But Its gripping plotline and intricately crafted characters held me spellbound, and I already wanted to read the second in the series and don't want to miss the third which will be published this year.

Goodread. Quickread. Every Minute enjoyable.
