This book presents the stories of patients from the point of view of the neurologist who sees them. It is an interesting read and you do feel for the patients in the story, and in some cases try to figure out the cause of the dissociative seizures.
This book tries to make us understand about the illness and not to judge people who have it, as while a few use the illness for gain, many do not. It provides the reader with history on the illness, from ancient greece to 18th and 19th century work on hysteria.
This is an easy to read book with some interesting case studies. It do feel that the author wants Doctors and the general public to understand that illness might not be just have a biological or physical cause but an emotional one as well. They need help and should be supported so that they can get better or cope better.
