Raskolnikov is a man that one day commits two violent and senseless murders.  He thinks that he is above the law and no one suspects that he could be the one who has done it, but as time goes on he is feeling the need to let others know of what he has done.

This classic was on my big poster of 100 books to read.  I've discovered that I actually enjoy the Russian novels around this time period.  I think that a big part of it has to do with the fact that I am reading translations of the books, so the language is a bit more current.  I read the Oliver Ready translation.  All of these books are too long for me and I'm going to assume that they were paid by the page during this time, haha.  This book was a bit more gruesome than I was expecting and there is little punishment in the novel.  Oh, it was also hard for me to keep track of the names of people and who was who.
