The book was adventurous and at times gripping, but it somehow read to me like a YA novel, which is not really my thing. Not really sure what about it made it - maybe something about it, despite touching on the dark theme of slavery and racism, read as sort of simplified, flat. Not quite sure. It didn't feel like what an adult-oriented book would feel like when addressing slavery. So for people who enjoy YA and tough topics, this would ve perfect.
