Gory Details: Adventures from the Dark Side of Science by Erika Engelhaupt

lighthearted medium-paced

3.5

This was every bit as gross as promised - sometimes gross enough that I had to put the book down for a few minutes to let my stomach settle. I liked the variety of topics that were covered, but I'll be honest that at times I struggled with how much Engelhaupt jumped around in topics. It felt like I was just starting to get into a topic and then suddenly was whipped to another. I did appreciate that Engelhaupt kept stressing how unlikely how some of these scenarios are, which definitely made some things easier to stomach.

I'm not sure if I'm just getting tired of the pop science genre - I think a few years ago I may have loved this book more, but these kinds of short form science books meant to shock you are starting to become overdone.
