The Wounded Heart by Dan B. Allender

challenging emotional hopeful medium-paced

5.0

This book is a window into the psychological effects of childhood sexual abuse for those who have experienced abuse or are caring for them as a counselor, pastor, friend, or family. The foundations for healing are theological.

Dr. Dan Allender offers a path forward and I found his writing and his ongoing work helpful and hopeful. This book isn’t for everyone and the timing of engagement will be important. I found it valuable to read the book slowly and make space to discuss the concepts and personal applications with trusted people. I know that I will be revisiting this and reading other books by Allender because of the role this one is playing in my healing.
