Watts is a phenomenal explainer of Eastern philosophies to the hip kids of the late 1960s. That’s pretty much what you get here. I appreciate how accessible Watts is with harder to parse concepts of Taoism and Zen Buddhism but I do feel like he loses focus to go on self motivated little tangents, or to do a little self-help advisory tactic that I doubt the validity of. But overall it’s great. I wouldn’t give it to my kid as Watts suggest but I might give it to a person I’m trying to fuck.
