Reading Lolita in Tehran: A Memoir in Books by Azar Nafisi

I am only 75 pages in and don't think I care to go any further. The narrative is condescending and disjointed. I feel like the author is trying too hard--way too hard. Hearing some of the authors thoughts on Lolita is interesting, but not interesting enough for me to torture myself any further.

I had high hopes for this book because the premise has real potential (and Lolita was fantastic). It more than fell short of my expectations.

Was told to "power through" the first 100 pages and it gets better. Am into Part II of book and it has definitely improved. Will keep plugging away, I guess...

I surrender.
