Marie's hysterics were getting way out of hand. Seriously. She's the kind of person I simply stop sympathising with because she is unwilling to see anything wrong with her actions until they blow up majorly in her face. No. Everything is about her and only her. Why doesn't anyone feel for me? Oh woe is me. She almost never stops to think of the other side when she's on one of her selfish episodes. But then she switches in the blink of an eye and gets downright nasty. She's toxic, creating senseless drama wherever she goes, never growing up because Mazen will fix whatever she did anyway.
And while I liked Mazen in the first book he lost face in this one. When the twist is revealed and how he acted and handled stuff? Psh. No thanks.
It's all around disappointing. The plot felt wobbly at best. The pacing is too hectic and the ending is downright disgusting. I've come to despise the character development and what's worse I hate the portrayal of the culture. That's what got me through the first one. The scene in the coffee shop. Well, it was destroyed by the last scene in London and the last part before the epilogue.
Not gonna continue even though I already bought the third one. Freaking disappointed.
