This was an excellent book, if a little heavy handed in dealing with themes. I thought the story played out very believably, was crushed by the ending, and loved how it defied expectations.
Sciona went from egotistical, near sociopathic mage to betrayed benefactor to failed white saviour beautifully
, but I would have liked more from Thomil’s pov as he was the most interesting character by far.

As stated above I do think it was a bit obvious - we understand well enough from chapter one that racism, classism, and sexism are rampant and that girlboss feminism will never alter the status quo; what’s needed for real change is intersectionality - but I also believe these are still such relevant and important themes that it’s better to play it safe and ensure the reader gets it.
