Drums of Autumn by Diana Gabaldon

I really do love these books, and these characters, but there’s only so much nonsense I can take as a direct result of manly pride - namely Jamie’s.

It’s the fact that the main conflict of the last 25 chapters (300-odd pages in my edition) was caused by a miscommunication. Miscommunication conflicts are the bane of any reading journeys for me, and to see one so blatant and bold that it almost cost Roger his life, and did end in the “forced adoption” of poor Young Ian, all because a lady’s maid didn’t bother to ask Brianna the name of the man who raped her?!

I’m going to continue on reading the series, as I really do love the characters, but god, I hope Diana stepped away from miscommunication plots & focused more on historical and familial dramas in the books to come
