This is a high 3. Think 3.8 since I loved how atmospheric it was. I got pulled from the chaotic panic of betrothal into the bitter cold and then boomeranged into this insular world that kind of reminded me of caraval. The mystery of it all keeps me going. What are Thorn’s true intentions??? Who is being manipulated? In this court of injustices and egos, what can be done about expectations and traditions. Who will die as a result of court politics? Also Thorn is described as tall (neutral) instead of tall (positive) so mu ch so that it makes me long for him even more. God I need to know more about that mystery man!!!! He’s always so tense and angry!!! Ophelia, the poor girl, is forced into a servant’s life for her own “protection” but she gets truly taken advantage of as a spy and scapegoat. I really like that she decides that she still holds the power at the end of the book though. She is more than her hands, she can leave whenever she likes, but she’s going to cut her way through this bloated court and come out on top hopefully. Honestly would have liked more of Thorn and also for a little more plot? It seems like we’ve planted the seeds for a lot of things which makes me excited for the next one.
