The End Run by Christy Hayes

3.0

Although this book was cheesy in some aspects, others were the opposite of cheesy.
Your handsome athlete, Zach, isn’t sleeping around with every girl on campus. The main female character, Jenna, isn’t the super pretty shy girl that needs constant reassurance on her looks.
Golden boy, Zach Chamberlain, isn’t the first jock Jenna Peterson’s tutored with cover-boy good looks, and he won’t be the last. When Zach’s storybook life begins to unravel, Jenna discovers he’s more than just a gifted athlete with a pretty face. A sprig of mistletoe and a searing kiss pits the playmaker against the rule maker. When secrets are revealed and the game is on the line, will they follow the game plan, improvise, or make an end run around their hearts?
I liked that the characters had development, there was an evolution in which we learned more about Jenna and Zach. They have some depth.
Were there super cheesy parts? Of course, but what is romance without a bit of cheesiness?
Was I sometimes annoyed by how immature they acted? Hell yes.
One thing I truly hated though, is that in some part of this book she was described as a rebound because she’s not as pretty as his ex and he won’t be able to fall for someone like her? What about the inside??
But if you overcome that and read further it does get better. I think this book has some good lessons as well as how it’s okay to fear something as long as it doesn’t lead your life and how winning isn’t always necessary.
So over all I give this book 3,5 stars and I liked it. It’s not my favorite book of all times, but it’s a nice fast read romance novel.
