The Woman in the Window
by A.J. Finn
I went back and forth between loving this book and being disappointed by this book.
The Good: I found the writing style very good—excellent pacing! I loved the noir film vibe about it too. There were many parallels to old school Hitchcock movies (even though they were almost always telegraphed, it worked for the book). My heart rate was frequently jumping and I actually felt the tension, unease, and fear as I was reading. Also Anna was *such* an (intentionally) unreliable narrator that it really kept me guessing about what was real and what wasn’t.
The Bad: ok the Ed/Olivia situation and the big reveal at the end — both I saw coming a mile away. Really a shame to have such a stellar psychological mind boggle going on only to be able to pick out the twists immediately ... total let down.
The Ugly: I do not understand the whole thing Anna said on the roof about Ethan’s father. I actually googled it to see what the hell was going on there and I’m not even sure the interwebs are correct. Completely confusing and distracting.
