Dead to the World
by Charlaine Harris
In this book, there's a lot more drama for poor Sookie. She and Bill are no longer an item (and he is not seen in the majority of the book) and she comes across an Eric who has been placed under a curse and does not remember himself. To top all of that off, her brother mysteriously disappears. Sookie finds herself falling for the much-altered, much-gentler Eric (who is by far not as much fun as the regular Eric) who greatly depends on her. Another set of supernaturals is introduced in this book: some witches, who are responsible for Eric's state of forgetfulness. The overall tone of the book was kind of depressing because so many things seemed to happen to Sookie at once that it was hard to effectively wrap your brain around one incident before the occurance of another and Sookie was not her usual cheerful self at all. However, the book was still an enjoyable read and I can't wait to skip off and read the next one.
