Amal Unbound by Aisha Saeed

5.0

This is just the sweetest book I’ve read in a long time… so brilliant!

This books follow Amal whose dreams of becoming a teacher are dashed when she is forced to work as a servant in Jawad Sahib's estate until she can pay off the family debt.

Amal is such a courageous and talented young girl who's character shows tremendous development throughout the story. She has a curiosity for everything, especially when people tell her that "life isn't fair". What I loved the most about this book was that it teaches about the importance of standing up for what is right even if the risks are high. Amal and many her friends learn this lesson towards the end of the story.

This was my first middle grade read and I am so excited to pick up so many more. This book was phenomenal and I highly recommend!
