Spinster Eloise Bridgerton writes a letter of condolence to Sir Phillip Crane, and they start a years long correspondence, which ends when he asks if she'd be willing to visit, along with a very practical proposal. Eloise plans very very carefully and leaves the night Colin announces that Penelope is Lady Whistledown , sneaking out before the announcement is made and heading for Sir Phillip. She arrives - unannounced and unchaperoned - only to discover that her correspondent has neglected to mention that he has eight year old twin terrors. Quite something to leave out of years long correspondence that ends with a proposal.
Over the few days that Eloise spends with Sir Phillip, they grow closer and she's thinking about seriously considering his proposal when her brothers - all four of them - show up.
