The Kitchen Front by Jennifer Ryan

heartwarming and inspiring
-themes of solidarity, female friendship, and resilience
-The sister conflict between Audrey and Gwendoline felt underdeveloped or like something was missing to make it believable, but the moments of redemption and reconciliation were so touching and beautiful. In general, I didn’t really connect to any of the characters, but I did enjoy seeing each of them develop.
-loved the recipes and getting insight into how people had to navigate new ways of life during WWII
-The dramatic twists were fairly predictable.
-I thought it a bit strange that the cooking competition for a radio show broadcasted nationwide would only pull from 1 town and not from a wider area (or England as a whole), but the little connections already existing between the characters made the drama, tension, and story development really interesting!

I read this book as my first book with the library book club, and I was definitely the youngest attendee by far
