A Prince's Heart by M.L. Taylor

3.0

A Prince's Heart is an enemy to lover romance featuring a strong-willed female and the devastatingly handsome prince who can't resist her.

A Prince's Heart has such an entertaining sequence of events:
-Prince wants to make parents proud by accepting task
-Prince gets kidnapped whilst performing said task
-Prince meets the daughter of his kidnapper who is coerced into seducing him as part of a revenge plot
-Prince finds himself married and on the run
- Prince returns home with a host of secrets and a burning desire for his "wife"

While it may seem as if the book is about a Prince, the winning character for me definitely has to be Sophie. She has faced so much loss, heartache, and abuse, and yet she still tries to do good for those around her.

The dynamic of Prince Valik and Sophie was explosive with equal parts sugar and spice. Their journey towards finding each other is so much more than victims of circumstance and more along the lines of "hating to love you."

Some may refer to certain scenes as "dark" but when anger, abuse, and a heavy dose of revenge are some of the core themes within a novel this is to be expected. These themes formed the catalyst for a lot of the actions within the book and truly showcased how abuse-both emotional and physical, plays an integral role in shaping a person's thoughts and reactions.

I definitely think the later chapters felt slightly rushed and the ending fell a little flat as we all marched towards our happy ending, but all in all, I would say a good novel nonetheless.

Thank you to Reedsy Discovery and the author for providing me with an arc in exchange for an honest review.
