Magic was a truly beautiful disease.
A Darker Shade of Magic was an introduction to a fascinating world of three Londons, a world full of blood and magic. It boasted a cast full of characters who were intriguing, complex and with understandable motivations. That being said, I struggled to connect with Lila whose recklessness and search were for adventure were initially entertaining, but quickly grew tiresome. Kell, whom I liked a little more, felt a bit ... boring at times. Maybe I'll be more endeared to the pair in the second book?
Graphic: Death, Violence, Blood
Moderate: Sexual assault, Torture, Murder
Minor: Kidnapping, Fire/Fire injury, Sexual harassment
