This book had the slowest start out of all three of the books, it felt like it was dragging itself to get to the plot kind of. However, I do ultimately understand (having read the whole trilogy) that most of this slow writing was necessary world building and character development that sets us up for the rest of the story. I'd say my favorite thing about this book was the way that all of the tension was written. The sly and awful behavior from the White Wolf creating all this unnecessary tension between the main character and everyone. For the angels it was the tension of deciding what was the right thing to do. And again I really like the portrayal of the supporting cast, they never felt like throwaway characters and all helped move the story along in a way that might ahve felt repetitive had the information come from the main characters. Overall not bad 3.5/5 stars
