Oh my gosh this is such a cute cheesy read!! A romance story that has all the grand gestures, soppy heartfelt moments, and fights to protect one's lover. Heart eyes all the way! This was also my first cowboy romance so no other comparisons.
What I loved:
π Teddy is the friend every girl wants! She was supportive while also a tad pushy to make sure her friend wasn't a total recluse.
πEmmy's father is such a wonderful man and figure in her life. I love that he wasn't the typical overprotective father. The scene at the coffee shop, made me feel like I was cutting onions.
π I loved the grand gestures, like ugh it was perfect. The author was self-aware of the cheese factor.
π The dry humor and sarcasm was great. It felt like dialogue I would have with my friends.
What I cringed at:
πThe nickname "sugar" was overused and just not my thing to read. Although when I went to the author's website, it's definitely part of her brand - I saw she has some shirts with "sugar" on it.
π The sex scenes, again not my taste. I just didn't like the dirty talk and the dominance. I wanted a bit more romance in the sex scenes. I wish Luke actually said Emmy's name at least once during the sex haha.
π Gus the overprotective father oops I mean brother. I just didn't have enough backstory to buy into his behavior. Although it was some good drama for a hot second.
