Like any other Japanese Translation I have read, the ending makes the book likeable. As it progresses, the story seems to be a continuation of different people going back in time to gain a sense of comfort. However, their own pride and grief always prevents them from making the best of the opportunity. The last chapter, however, strikes it mark, as it manages to portay the loss an absence of a mother brings through the eyes of Kei's anxiety.
Overall a decent book but reading the same plot through different relation can be quite dull.
