A Kingdom of Stars and Shadows
by Holly Renee
Adara (love the name) has been raised to understand that she will one day be traded to the royal fae family who will drink her magic and use it to make themselves powerful because she has some light-ish marks on her face and back. Baby, that sounds like vitiligo. This whole story could have been solved by a dermatology consult. So anyway, she’s taken to the castle and meets Gavril, who seems nice but is obviously a momma’s boy. Meanwhile his half-brother Evren, who is also half vampire and half fae is going around making sexy eyes and saying embarrassing pick-up lines to his soon to be sister-in-law who he is meant to protect. 90% of the book is just him being like “I can make you scream in ways my brother never could”. It’s so gross. He shows almost no regard for her as a person. Then at the end sells her out to his mother the queen of the vampire court that he’s been working for this whole time?!? They all really suck (no pun intended). The only vaguely redeemable character is Jorah and Eletta.
