Eiger Dreams: Ventures Among Men and Mountains
by Jon Krakauer
Eiger Dreams is an interesting concept. This book is comprised of 12 individual essays summarizing stories from climbing and mountaineering expeditions, with each chapter as a stand-alone tale. The episodic format however, meant that each chapter was more dense, packing in a lot of information to each page. Because of this, I found it to be a slower read than anticipated, given how short of a book it is. But with each passing story I seemed to be enjoying the book more and more. And the final essay does a great job at bringing it full circle, it was certainly my favorite chapter of all.
