I think my favourite books about junkies are all kind of cartoonish. That's not a putdown. Like cartoons, good junky lit should feature characters who are defined by by their strong but somewhat alien motivations, and the schemes this causes them to get involved in. I think it's why I like Irvine Welsh so much. Anyways, this book meets that criteria once you strip away the more pretentious parts. Ramon Glazov puts it better than I ever could in his eXiled piece, which can be read here.
