Belladonna by Anne Bishop

2.0

I feel really bad about this rating... I absolutely love Anne Bishop, but this one was just pretty sad all around. It seemed like she spent too much time having her characters chat sarcastically rather than furthering the plot, and what little did happen wasn't anywhere near as interesting as the Anne Bishop I'm used to.

The ending was interesting enough, but the vast majority of the book I found to be fairly boring and concentrated way too much on explaining the magic over and over again (I understood it with the first book, but for some reason she felt like she had to keep drilling it into my head. Definitely was a bit tiresome).

She really would have been better off beefing up the first in the series, [book:Sebastian], and keeping it to one volume. It felt like a whole bunch of filler except for the last 40-ish pages, and a few bits in the middle of the book. A sad disappointment.
