See Jane Die by Erica Spindler

2.0

I know it has 4+ stars, but I only made it to page 29 before giving it a pass. Chapter One tries to condense almost the entire adult history of the main character into 7 pages, and in the process loses any attempt at subtlety; personally, I prefer more of a show/don't tell approach. Then we move onto Chapter Two and the introduction of Detective Stacy Killian who checks off every box for female detective stereotypes in the genre. There is too much competition and too many excellent books out there to settle for something less. I am moving on.
