3.5

Elly Griffiths sure likes her forbidden romances! I do too, so it's OK, but I think three separate people are cheating on their spouses in this one. She's ramping it up. The rest was fine! The central mystery was about aboriginal Australian artifacts and horses and cocaine! They're all connected and sometimes inside each other. Also, one of the main characters gets in serious peril (and then it gets weird because it's implied character might be cursed by a shaman?! The series has a few witchy overtones but nothing that blatant). Regardless, I felt actively worried for the character. These books never quite work for me and yet they do. 🤷‍♀️
