Barking Up the Wrong Tree by Sawyer Bennett, Juliette Poe
5.0
Pap is the man who sets the story up for us – narrator if you will. Later on there’s a narrator that may be something of a surprise. Pap also shows what a creative mind our author has. This should become evident by the end of the first chapter.
Laken Mancinkus has a take that attitude that has me chuckling – especially when she comes in contact with Mr. Fancy Pants. I thoroughly enjoyed laughing with and at Ms. Poe’s characters. Jake McDaniel is going to get you to laugh a lot – so I’m giving you plenty of warning. He may seem like a big burly man but put Laken in his path and watch out.
It’s not long into the book that I wish that Whynot was a real place. There’s just something about a small town that brings back some great memories. I want to go down to North Carolina, locate the town, and get to know these characters personally. Ms. Poe knows what will touch her reader’s hearts. If you’re a fan of Animal Planet you’ll understand – you can’t go wrong when you add animals into a story. For the most part this is a feel good sexy story with some humor put in for good measure. And if you want more of this town and the Mancinkus family book four will be out in a few months.
I was not compensated nor was I required to write a positive review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.
