All Our Wrong Todays by Elan Mastai

5.0

Man lives in a 1950s version of 2016 (think Jetsons).
Man feels like a loser.
(insert shenanigans)
Man is transported to our reality of 2016.

Tom is not a particularly happy dude.
This is his memoir.
The first 25% of the story sets up the 1950s version of 2016. And to be honest, there was a lot of science that went over my head but I marched on...and I'm so glad I did!
Everything you read is important and loops back to the story in some way.
What started as a book about time travel became a book about Tom's discovery of how he fits into these two very different realities and battling with his demons. It demonstrates the power of love and how one decision can have a ripple affect on other people.
The ending was spectacular and perfection.

The best way I can describe the pacing is it often feels like you take 2 steps forward and a 1/2 step back. This may not sound appealing but for some reason it just worked. The writing style was wonderful with bit of self deprecating humor and touching realizations.

If this sounds at all appealing, I say give it a try.
It's a fantastic story.
