The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet by John Green

5.0

I give the Anthropocene Reviewed five (5) stars.

Yes, I am completely aware of the irony of reviewing a book that's essentially an anthology of other reviews. I was not at all sure what to expect when I started listening to this one. Even after the first few reviews, it was an odd compilation from hot dog eating contests to the great city of Indianapolis.

What is posed as a series of reviews, is really a heartwarming and nostaligic tale of how we are all struggling to find love, connection and even ourselves throughout this pandemic. Green spends the story reflecting on all of the wonder big and small around the world. This book is a beautiful juxtaposition of all the contractions of the human experience: wonder and misery. Green captures those contradictions with incredible beauty and grace. I found myself elated in his joys and grieving his losses. It was truly a work of art.

After finishing the book, I am recommending this to any human living in the world today.
