Really enjoyed this, it was surprisingly sweet (but still plenty steamy!)
There's a communication barrier for most of the book, but I thought it was well written and they still understand each other enough that their affection and romance develops at a believable rate.
Getting dual POVs really helps with this.
Hugo, the human male, isn't really bothered about being taken away from earth. Although he'd rather not be stuck working as an intergalactic stripper. His insatiable curiosity has him hungry for any exploration or learning about new alien species.
Roark is a hulking, pink bipedal shark-alien captain. He has no idea what he's doing in the romance department, but is immediately besotted with Hugo and wants to take care of him.
Both characters are really earnest, are battling their own inadequacies and anxieties, and are adorably obsessed with each other.
Overall a solid, cosy space romance. Their relationship is definitely the main plot, with sci-fi context of humans being abducted and sold across the galaxy, a ship of noble shark-aliens gathering resources for their planet, and the looming threat of space-pirates.
