A good book but not my favorite

I liked everything about the book except for how Yvenne lacked compassion for Maddek after he lost his parents. It’s like she expects for him to invite her into his arms lovingly after finding out the truth. She bothered me a lot in the beginning. Mainly because when she was taught a lesson at first, she always somehow flipped it back on Maddek and how “wrong” he also was. Like that’s not really important right now. It’s the principle of the entire thing. Not just the fact about the situation. Where she in fact was either wrong or misinformed.

I don’t say this to say Maddek is picture perfect, but I don’t fault him as much because he is still grieving. He never got time to process anything. Constantly something us happening.

*MINOR SPOILER*

I also feel like Yvenne expected too much from someone who’s grieving. She spent majority of her life watching him and learning about him, and forgets that he doesn’t know her. He’s not certain about her character, so it’s reasonable he would respond the way he did.
