"The books that the world calls immoral are books that show the world its own shame"

Much like the eponymous portrait, Wilde’s prose is painted exquisitely. I couldn't help but feel like I was back in school, giddily annotating my favorite passages. If you read it, I highly recommend finding a version that notes the amendments Wilde made to the manuscript after its first publication in order to make its "immorality" less apparent.
