Invincible Vol. 15: Get Smart by Robert Kirkman
4.0

Can I say I’m glad Eve’s weight gain has not been used for jokes and instead for developing the bond between her and Mark? When I left off with the previous volume, I was worried how it would be handled.

There’s a lot of emotional growth in this book that is a delight to see. Mark as a twenty-year-old young man is starting to shift in his views. He and Eve are being open and honest, and sometimes that hurts. I feel for Eve because she had to make some hard choices when Mark was gone, and I’m glad she isn’t being villainized for her decision.

Also I appreciate the narrative growth. When this series started there were a plethora of jokes made that I found uncomfortable and undesirable, mainly focused around the gay community or women. I’m glad we’ve swung around to develop into a more modern and correct lens as the series continued. It’s matured well and I’m glad it fulfilled my hopes for that.
