Notes on Grief
by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie
5
I didn't know that Adichie's father had also passed away during the pandemic, although not of COVID-19. I immediately decided I needed to get this when I heard it. I also got the audiobook and it helped a lot with some of the Igbo pronunciation (I have been trying to get a better grasp of the language for years as unfortunately my father never had a chance to teach it to us growing up. He always swore he would sometime though lol). This made me cry as her father reminded me so much of my own, I swear all Nigerian dads must be the same. Their relationship was beautiful and I was definitely grieving the loss of a man I never met. If you've experienced the loss of a parent I definitely recommend this.
