Simple Passion
by Annie Ernaux
It was alright. Nothing amazing, I guess. Some good moments, though, as usual. Not much to say here. Winterson has the superior passionate adultery novel.
I think my favourite part of this book was this scene where A sometimes stumbles or belches when kissing the speaker bc he always comes to her drunk. I was really disgusted by the belch initially, but the narrator explains that she enjoys it bc she feels privileged to witness him in a state of incipient abjection and I think we can all recognise the charm of a lovely individual in disrepair.
