This is such a good book! I loved the characters and the parallel stories both in the Congo and in the UK. It was way more brutal and violent than I was expecting - lots of shocking, vivid descriptions of (spoiler alert) chimp attacks. Great twists and a plot which surprised me through to the last few pages. This was my first William Boyd after my parents failed to track down their copy of Any Human Heart … which it turns out I already owned, so that’ll be read in the near future!
